about
Dr. Daniela Soto Hernández is a social anthropologist and holds a Ph.D. in International Development from the University of Sussex. Her research has focused on gender and labour, extractivism, coloniality and the energy transition, and more recently, her postdoctoral research position focuses on supply-side climate policies. She has worked in the School of Anthropology at the P. Universidad Católica de Chile, with indigenous communities on several projects with the Center for Indigenous and Intercultural Research (CIIR), and as a consultant for 15 years in diverse areas. Her engagement with Indigenous and diverse local communities inspired her to incorporate anticolonial perspectives into scientific research, develop context-specific learning approaches, and actively challenge ongoing colonial practices. She remains deeply committed to restoring autonomy, access to information, and decision-making power to local and Indigenous communities within the research process.
