Plant-Microbe Interactions & Soil Ecology

My research aims to diagnose and identify plant pathogens such as bacteria, fungi and nematodes in the crops of small and large farmers. I am also investigating the potential of beneficial microorganisms to control economic diseases affecting crops in sourthern Ecuador.

I work at the Agricultural University of Georgia as a Professor and a head of the Laboratory of Mycology and Plant Pathology. I am experienced in working with plant pathogenic, mycoparasitic, endophytic, and mycorrhizal fungi. My current interest is to study arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi of grapevine and wheat.

Dr. K. Premsagar  research expertise lies in Characterization of metal ion transporters from Neurospora crassa and their role in life cycle development and fungal biodegradation of lignocellulose. Currently working on Trichoderma metal ion transporters,  isolation of fungal biofertilizers from hill and mountain areas in Nalgonda region.

La investigación esta basada en todos los componentes de la agricultura regenerativa, no solamente las alternativas para recuperar los suelos, si no también las selección de nuevas variedades de plantas adaptadas a estas técnicas, estamos comparando las diferentes técnicas: aplicación de abonos orgánicos, sobretodo basados en bioles, compost y   y con microorganismos enriquecedores del suelo: microorganismos de montaña, controladores biológicos: Trichoderma, Bauberia bassiana, Bacillus thuringiensis, micorrizas. Las investigaciones se realizan en terrenos de los campesinos y en terrenos experimentales de Raymi Llacta, sostenida mente estamos realizando cursos de capacitación para agricultores en toda la provincia de Loja, además los resultados están publicados en la revista "Naturaleza" de la casa de la Cultura ecuatoriana núcleo de Loja, así como son expuestos en  los "Martes de Naturaleza" de la misma casa de la cultura a donde asisten autoridades, estudiantes y profesores de universidades y colegios así como periodistas. En mi tesis de doctorado de estado trabajamos sobre el poder patógeno de Helminthosporium maydis y las relaciones huesped parásito.

My research is centered on the intricate relationship between plants and microorganisms, with a particular emphasis on leveraging microbial communities to enhance soil fertility, promote plant growth under diverse conditions, and remediate contaminated soils. I am experienced in investigating the microbial communities associated with plants and their pivotal role in plant health.

My research focuses on understanding plant-microbe interactions under global change. Specifically, I am working on building a mechanistic understanding of how nutrient enrichment affects mycorrhizal colonization and root traits across plant functional groups in grasslands.

I am a soil microbiologist with a chemical background, studying how AMF adapt to diverse environmental conditions and interact with other soil microorganisms. My research integrates soil chemistry and microbial ecology to uncover mechanisms shaping belowground networks, nutrient cycling, and ecosystem resilience, supporting SPUN’s mission to map and protect underground biodiversity.

I study how to optimize the cultivation of the whole diversity of indigenous mycorrhizal communities as well as develop novel methods for measuring their development. I investigate plant host specificity and preference to maximize positive agronomic outcomes from inoculation with diverse mycorrhizal mixes.

I am a microbial ecologist specializing in plant-microbe interactions and soil biogeochemistry. My work uses stable isotope probing, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and soil chemistry to better understand how microbial physiology, traits, and community dynamics influence soil biogeochemical cycles.

I recently completed my PhD entitled ‘The influence of indigenous and exotic mycorrhiza species on Gemlik olive (Olea europaea cv. Gemlik) seedling growth under deficit water stress conditions.’ I work as a researcher at the Olive Research Institute, focusing on mycorrhiza–plant interactions under stress conditions.

I am working with ectomycorrhizal fungi in Nothofagus forests of North Patagonia, and studying the philosophical implications of our traditional approach to forest ecosystems.

I am specifically interested in forests and fens of the Sierra Nevada (California) that are in peril due to rapid climactic and hydrological shifts.
