Biotic interactions underlying the diversity and composition of global plant communities including mycorrhizal symbiosis and mycorrhizal biodiversity/community composition.

My research focuses on understanding whether plant evolutionary processes are mediated by climatic changes, abiotic factors and biotic interactions. My studies are usually conducted in experimental settings. However, I am extremely focused on investigating cliff ecological processes in natural conditions, as iconic landmarks that are refuge for many different rare and endemic plants. Assessing the role of fungal communities for plants' adaptation to extreme cliff conditions is key for understanding their outstanding specialization processes.

I'm currently working on the diversity of soil fungi using next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques.

As a mycologist and plant pathologist, I work broadly on fungal biodiversity discovery and analysis to better inform conservation efforts with emphasis on plant pathogenic fungi, entomopathogenic fungi, and fungal mutualists of animals and plants. I also served as director of INVAM, the world's largest collection of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, from 2017-2022.

I work on mycorrhiza and their role in forest resilience, studying the extremely stable forest such as ancient, pristine forests in many ecosystems. I work more recently with forest and landscape managers searching for more resilient soil and practices associated with fungal diversity.

My research is focused on understanding how plant interactions with belowground microorganisms alters plant physiology, plant host tolerance to abiotic and biotic stress, and ecosystem function.

I study the effect of mycorrhizal specificity and fungal distribution and abundance on plant distribution and abundance.

My research focuses on understanding how changing environments, including disturbance and biological invasions, impact plants and their associated mycorrhizal fungal communities across scales. Current projects in my lab include: (1) examining how symbiotic interactions between plants and mycorrhizal fungi shape above and belowground communities in response to, and recovery from, disturbance events; (2) determining how microbiomes can be tailored to improve plant productivity in natural and agroecosystems; and (3) investigating the role of microbial inoculations in the success or failure of native plant establishment in ecological restorations.

My master's degree was in the synecology of animals such as mammals of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus Mountains (Red deer, Roe deer, Wild boar, Capra cylindricornis, Chamois, Mouflon, Wild goat ). Since 2013, I have been studying the macrofungi of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus Mountains.

I am a PhD student studying the influence of ericoid mycorrhizal fungi on blueberry (Vaccinium sp.) plant growth and production through field, glasshouse, and laboratory experiments.

Working with undergraduate students at the University of Panamá in the Agronomy Faculty in Agroforestry Engineering, one of our objectives is to strengthen their capabilities in understanding how the soil and its microorganisms work. Under this focus, we will try to evaluate the total fungal and mycorrhizal community richness and composition that will vary with elevation due to changes in climatic influences, in addition to soil characteristics and the influence of vegetation. For that, we will be establishing plots to collect data at several sites across the Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé in partnership with the GCBC-STRI project. In addition, our students will be using STRI labs for molecular (DNA) analysis and sequencing of fungal and mycorrhizal communities, working with Dr. Kristin Saltonstall.

Currently, my research explores mycorrhizal associations in orchids.

I am a plant and soil ecologist who mainly works in grasslands and other open ecosystems such as the underground forests of the Brazilian Cerrado and Campo Rupestre savanna systems. Much of my research centres on explaining belowground processes and biodiversity using aboveground plant traits.

The interdisciplinary project explores the valorization of building waste streams using fungal microorganisms as an organic binder for circular and regenerative biomaterials. The applied research is grounded in a low-tech vernacular methodology for exploring architectural typologies through load bearing prototypes informed by variable ways of casting, growing and drying mycelium composites.

Maceno Evald recently earned his PhD in Environmental Sciences. His research focused on three primary objectives: (1) determining the functional attributes of phenological timing in a wet forest; (2) identifying environmental cues that trigger flower production; and (3) assessing masting behavior in a wet forest of eastern Puerto Rico.

I am the founder and director of the Telluride Environmental Science and Engineering Laboratory (TESEL).  I am also the Director of Science and Research at the Telluride Institute.  My laboratory has a portfolio of ongoing projects focused on environmental biology in alpine and subalpine ecosystems in the San Juan Mountains near Telluride Colorado.  Much of my research focuses on complex-systems biology and fungal biodiversity, including a new research initiative to assess mycorrhizal and endophytic fungi in high-elevation fens.
